Tom Cleverley has enjoyed quite a good month.
He scored his first two competitive goals for Manchester United, earned selection for the national side, playing a pivotal role in the 5-0 defeat of San Marino (that actually sounds less impressive when you type it out) and has seemingly earned a place in Sir Alex’s tactical thinking as he tinkers with a midfield diamond.
It’s always nice to see Academy products getting their chance in the first team and that is particularly true for Cleverley, who has overcome some mammoth injury problems, as well as many doubts over his size and physique to prove himself as one of United’s, and indeed England’s, brightest up-and-coming stars.
